Be an Educated Bartender

There's nothing worse than not knowing how to make a customers drink. Especially when its a drink you know you should know. For some potential bartenders, bartending school is a great place to start. You'll learn all the basic drinks and a lot about presentation. Many of the better bartending schools will also help you to find a job after you complete their course.

While its true that you can learn on the fly its often a much more difficult task that you anticipate. You will have a lot of "I don't know" moments even after you've been at it for a while. This is because some drinks you just don't get called for all that often. This is where the educated bartender will always have an advantage over the fly by the seat of his pants bartender. When a customer knows how to make the drink and you don't, it makes you look unprofessional at best. Your tips will almost certianlly reflect that.

Also with the competition for jobs as tough as it is today its always helpfull to have a bartending school helping you to find employment.
